Age Calculator
Calculate exact age on a chosen target date in years, months and days, plus total days, weeks and days until the next birthday.
About this age calculator
Use this free age calculator to find exact calendar age from a date of birth to today or any selected date. The result includes years, months, days, total days and next birthday countdown.
Age as on any selected date
This calculator is useful when a form asks for age on a specific cut-off date rather than only today. Enter the date of birth and the target date to see the calendar age in years, months and days, plus total elapsed days and the next-birthday countdown.
For examinations, jobs, insurance or legal forms, use the exact cut-off date printed in the official notice. The calculator gives the date difference; it does not decide eligibility.
How to use Age Calculator
- Select the date of birth and the target date.
- Calculate exact age, total days/weeks and the next-birthday countdown.
- Use the target date required by the form or eligibility rule you are checking.

What “exact age” actually means
Age is not just the current year minus the birth year. A correct result has to compare the month and day as well. If the birthday has not yet occurred in the target year, the completed-year count is one lower. The same principle applies when the result is broken into years, months and days: the calculation has to respect real calendar month lengths instead of assuming every month has 30 days.
This matters for school admissions, exam forms, insurance, employment forms and any eligibility rule that uses a cut-off date. Always enter the exact cut-off date stated in the notice rather than automatically using today’s date.
Worked example
If a person was born on 18 November 2000 and the required cut-off date is 1 September 2026, they have not yet reached their 26th birthday on that date. Their completed age is therefore 25 years, with the remaining months and days calculated from the calendar. A form asking for “age as on 01-09-2026” should use that cut-off date, not the date the form is submitted.
Where people commonly make mistakes
- Using today instead of the official eligibility date.
- Counting only the difference between years.
- Confusing completed age with the age a person will turn later in the year.
- Assuming all organisations use the same age rule; some notices include specific relaxation or date conventions.
The calculator is a date-math aid. For an application, admission or legal requirement, the wording in the official notice controls.
